Professional Drywall Repair in Hernando County

Expert drywall repair for holes, cracks, water damage, and settling. We match existing textures — orange peel, knockdown, smooth — for an invisible repair.

Drywall Repair FAQ

Can you match my existing wall texture?expand_more

Yes — texture matching is a core part of every drywall repair we do. We replicate orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, and smooth finishes so the patch blends invisibly. We bring multiple texture tools and adjust spray patterns or trowel technique until the match is right.

How do you fix a large hole in drywall?expand_more

Holes larger than about four inches get a proper patch with a new piece of drywall backed by a support board or drywall clips. We cut a clean rectangle, install the patch, tape the seams, apply two to three coats of joint compound, sand smooth, and texture to match.

What causes cracks in drywall?expand_more

Most cracks come from normal house settling, especially at stress points like corners of windows and doors. In Florida, the sandy soil and humidity cycles cause more settling movement than in many other states. Hairline cracks are cosmetic. Wider cracks or those that keep returning may indicate a foundation issue worth investigating.

Can you repair water-damaged drywall?expand_more

Yes, as long as the source of the water has been fixed first. We cut out the damaged section, check for mold, let the area dry completely, install new drywall, and finish to match. We will not patch over active leaks — the problem has to be solved at the source.

How long does drywall repair take to complete?expand_more

Small patches (nail pops, doorknob holes) take under an hour. Larger repairs need multiple coats of compound with drying time between each, so the total process can span a few hours or may require a return visit. We plan the work around dry times so the finish is right.

Do you paint after the repair?expand_more

We prime the repaired area, which is essential for a good paint match. We can paint the patched section or the entire wall if you supply the paint. If you do not have leftover paint, we recommend taking a chip to the paint store for a computer match.

How We Handle Drywall Repair

Every job follows a consistent process to ensure quality results.

1

Damage Assessment

We examine the damaged area, determine the cause (impact, water, settling), and check for any hidden issues behind the surface like mold or structural damage. For water damage, we verify the source has been resolved.

2

Cut-Out & Preparation

Damaged drywall is cut back to a clean edge. For large holes, we cut a rectangular opening and install backing supports. For cracks, we route out the crack slightly to give the compound something to grip.

3

Patch Installation & Taping

New drywall is fitted into the opening and fastened. Seams are taped with mesh or paper tape and embedded in a first coat of joint compound. For cracks, we apply flexible mesh tape before the first coat.

4

Compound Application & Sanding

Two to three thin coats of joint compound are applied, with sanding between coats. Each coat is feathered wider than the last to create an invisible transition. We sand the final coat glass-smooth.

5

Texture Matching & Priming

We apply the appropriate texture to match the surrounding wall — orange peel, knockdown, or smooth. Once dry, the area is primed and ready for paint.

What Does Drywall Repair Cost?

Small patches like nail pops and doorknob holes are on the low end. Larger repairs, water damage, and full texture matching cost more due to the additional materials and multiple compound coats required. Multi-area jobs are often more cost-effective than individual patches.
